1. Jajangmyeon – ₩8,000

Jajangmyeon is one of Korea’s best-known Korean-Chinese noodle dishes.
I enjoyed the jajangmyeon here. The black bean sauce was pleasantly sweet, and the noodles had a nice chewy texture.
If you are trying Korean-Chinese food for the first time or do not like spicy food, this is an easy dish to start with.
How I Eat Jajangmyeon
I first mix the noodles thoroughly until they are evenly coated with the black bean sauce.

Then I pick up the noodles with chopsticks and eat them while they are still warm.
I also like eating a piece of pickled yellow radish between bites.
2. Beef Jjamppong – ₩13,000

Beef jjamppong comes with noodles in a red broth topped with sliced beef, vegetables, green onions, and an egg yolk.
The flavor is stronger than jajangmyeon, and the broth can be spicy.
If you are not used to spicy Korean food, keep this in mind before ordering.
How I Eat Beef Jjamppong
I start with a spoonful of the broth before eating the noodles.

Then I like to pick up the noodles together with a piece of beef and some vegetables.
You can also mix the egg yolk into the broth and noodles as you eat.
3. Hanyang Tangsuyuk – ₩23,000

Tangsuyuk is made by coating pieces of pork in batter and frying them.
It comes with a sweet and sour sauce and is a popular Korean-Chinese dish for sharing.
How I Eat Tangsuyuk
There are two popular ways to eat tangsuyuk in Korea.
Dip each piece into the sauce if you want the fried coating to stay crispy for longer.
Or pour the sauce over the tangsuyuk if you prefer the coating softer and more moist.
I enjoy both styles.
The sweet and sour sauce also makes tangsuyuk an easy dish for both children and adults to enjoy together.
4. Set Menu

A set menu is useful if two people want to try several dishes without ordering full portions of everything.
The Tangsuyuk Set is ₩40,500, and the Couple Set is ₩41,500.
One thing to know is that the tangsuyuk portion in a set may be smaller than a full tangsuyuk ordered separately.
If you mainly want to eat tangsuyuk, I would order it separately. If you want a little of several dishes, the set menu is more convenient.
What Should You Order?
Your best choice depends on what you like.
Choose jajangmyeon if you want something mild and slightly sweet.
Choose beef jjamppong if you enjoy a spicy noodle soup.
For two people, I like the idea of ordering different noodle dishes and adding tangsuyuk to share. This gives you more variety without everyone ordering the same thing.
Price & Value
The prices here are not particularly expensive for a meal in central Seoul. I found them reasonable for what you get.
For me, the value is one of the main reasons to recommend Hanyang Chinese Restaurant Jonggak.
If you want a Korean-Chinese meal around Jonggak or Jongno without spending too much, this is a good value option.
